McMinn County Historical  Society and Archives

McMinn County Historical Society and Archives was established in 1959.  Its object is to preserve the history of Tennessee, and particularly of McMinn County.

In January 2022, the McMinn County Historical Society and Archives moved to a new building where it currently stands: 107 W. College Street in Athens.  With more space, equipment, faster internet speeds, high resolution digitization projects, updates to the archives, and a host of awesome volunteers, the MCHSA is looking forward to a brighter future.

The archives are open 10 am - 2 pm on weekdays. The Society meets on the first Sunday of each month at 2:00 pm October through May in the Blue Room of the courthouse. Up-to-date meeting announcements and other events will be posted on our Facebook page.

Officers:

Tyler L. Boyd - President

Jordan Carter - Vice President

Jason Wright - Recording Secretary

Steven Sherlin - Corresponding Secretary

Donald Hoppel - Treasurer

Joe Guy - Historian/Archivist
