McMinn County Historical  Society and Archives

McMinn County Historical Society and Archives was first established in 1959.  Its object is to preserve the History of Tennessee, and particularly of McMinn County.

In the January 2022, McMinn County Historical Society and Archives underwent a great change in moving to a new building where it currently stands: 107 W. College Street in Athens.  With more room, facilities, better internet quality, higher resolution digitization projects, updating the archives and access plus a host of awesome volunteers, MCHSA is looking forward to a bright future.

The archives are open 10 am - 2 pm on weekdays. The society meets on the first Sunday of each month at 2 pm October through May. Up-to-date meeting announcements and outings will be addressed on our Facebook site.

Our Current Officers include:

Fred Underdown - President

Tyler L. Boyd - Vice President

Joy Montgomery - Secretary

Steven S. Sherlin - Treasurer

Jason Wright -Correspondence Secretary

Joe Guy - Historian/ Archivist

Janet Cantrell - Volunteers Chairman
